Nine Guilford Technical Community College student-athletes earn NJCAA All-Academic honors

JAMESTOWN, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2024) – Nine Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) student athletes have been honored for their classroom achievements in the 2023-24 school year by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) at the national level, earning a spot on the NJCAA National All-Academic Team.
To be named to the National All-Academic Team, student athletes must participate in a sport and achieve a 3.6 grade point average or higher while passing a minimum of 24 credit hours.
Women’s second-year basketball player Bentlee Chockley was selected to the NJCAA All-Academic first team with a 4.0 GPA. She was a second-team member a year ago.
Second-year baseball player Bryson Walker was named to the NJCAA All-Academic second team with a 3.9 GPA.
Four, first-year GTCC baseball players, GeSean Hardy, Isaiah Morris, Canyon Pennington, and Wyatt Schaffer, landed spots on the NJCAA All-Academic third team. To be eligible for the third team, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.6 GPA.
Women’s basketball player Kayla Reynolds earned a spot on the NJCAA All-Academic third team along with women’s volleyball players Riley Blake and Carson Simmerson.
“These NJCAA All-American honors further demonstrate the hard work put forth by our student-athletes,” said Kirk Chandler, director of athletics at GTCC. “We’re really proud of these individuals and all of our athletes who work so hard in the classroom.”
