Eligibility criteria are complex. The following statements are general snippets about eligibility criteria. Students must file an application with the VA, va.gov so they can determine if they are eligible and the conditions of their eligibility.
Students must first create an account on their TA service portal and gain approval from their service branch. Click on the appropriate branch of service below for more information and links to apply for TA:
You will want to begin the process at least 60 days in advance of the term start date to ensure a smooth application process.
Remember, every TA application MUST be Command Approved before being forwarded to the Voluntary Education Center for final approval. And Command Approval is not automatic. Please contact your command approver for the status before the start of classes. The TA application must be approved before the start date.
Following Command Approval, you will receive an email notification that your application has been sent to the Voluntary Education Center for final review and authorization. Once the TA application is funded, the service member will receive an email notification.
Once you establish your tuition assistance portal account, the next step is to complete the GTCC Admission process. This process has been developed in a series of steps called the “Path to Success” (follow the link to complete the steps) for both new and reapplying students.
The service member must print their voucher from their TA approval email and submit the voucher to GTCC’s Cashier's Office to process payment.
In Accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DODI), all schools desiring to participate in the Military Assistance (TA) Program must agree to:
