Course Census

Census information is pulled from each Canvas course. Questions about the Census or Self-Service should be directed to Auditing at ext. 55088.

  1. Check your course Census Activity Module. 
    The Academic Integrity Quiz is an Assignment in Canvas that instructors should use as the Census Assignment. Click the link to the file to learn how to set up the Academic Integrity Quiz in your course: Academic Integrity Quiz (PDF).
    1. The Census Activity Module should be the first module listed in the course with the Academic Integrity Quiz 2024 as the assignment.
    2. Do not relocate or delete the Census Activity Module or the Academic Integrity Quiz.
  1. Set Requirements and Prerequisites.
    1. Instructors should make the Census Activity Module and the Academic Integrity Quiz a prerequisite to the other modules in the course. Adding this requirement to the first module will prevent students from accessing additional course content until the Academic Integrity Quiz is completed.
    2. Be sure to add the Census Date for your course to this assignment.

eLearning Resources Repository

Access the new eLearning Resources Repository to find instructional resources for Canvas, eLearning technology updates, and additional eLearning resources. Self-enrolling in the eLearning Repository will add the repository tile to your Canvas dashboard for easy access.

  1. Click here to Self-Enroll.
  2. If you don’t want to self-enroll in this repository, click here to access it. This will not add the course tile to your Canvas Dashboard.

Canvas Training Guides

The Canvas Teacher app is available for Android or Apple iOS. How to Connect the Canvas Teacher App (PDF).

  • Assignments are the way student grades are added in Canvas. Assignments and Gradebook in Canvas (PDF).
  • See when students have submitted assignments in the Canvas course and see the gradebook history for students. Canvas Logs and Gradebook History (PDF).
  • Files such as images, PDFs, PowerPoints can be added to assignments or quizzes. How to Link a File in Canvas (PDF).
  • Rubrics can be useful for instructors to clarify expectations for student assignment submissions in an easy-to-follow format, allowing the students to take more responsibility for their performance. Adding a Rubric in Canvas (PDF).

  • Question Banks in Canvas (PDF) are associated with the Classic Quiz engine only. Classic Quizzes will be retired. Please start migrating any Classic Quizzes in your courses to New Quizzes using the New Quiz Engine. 
  • Start converting your question banks to Item Banks.

  • New Quizzes are the preferred quiz engine at GTCC. Please start migrating any Classic Quizzes in your courses to New Quizzes.

  • Learn more about new quizzes in Canvas.

Canvas Studio is the application for building and storing video content in your courses.

To use the Microsoft Teams classes integration in Canvas follow the instructions below. Instructors will need to edit the Navigation and Integrations in the course settings.
