As a result of the incident, GTCC immediately launched an investigation, with the assistance of leading cybersecurity experts, the FBI, and other state agencies to determine what happened and to remediate the attack. This investigation is currently ongoing. The forensic investigation confirmed that the cybercriminal(s) gained access to GTCC’s network prior to the attack and that personal information may have been accessible as a result.

Three North Carolina community colleges have joined forces with Elizabeth City State University to educate the next generation of aviators.
During an articulation agreement ceremony Friday, Feb. 15, ECSU officials signed agreements with officials from three North Carolina community colleges: Guilford Technical Community College, Lenoir Community College, and Sandhills Community College. The agreement with the colleges will bring community college transfer students to ECSU’s signature aviation science program in Elizabeth City.

The POWER (Providing Opportunities for Workforce Education Review) Pathways program gives students the necessary skills to find meaningful career or volunteer opportunities.

Guilford Technical Community College Performing Arts Theatre will present its spring production, “The Flick,” Feb. 21-23 at the Center for Creative and Performing Arts on GTCC’s High Point campus. All performances will begin at 7 p.m.
“The Flick,” by American playwright Annie Baker, won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for drama. The play follows three underpaid employees who work in a rundown movie theater in central Massachusetts as they mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35-millimeter film projectors in the state.

Guilford Technical Community College faculty recently completed a four-day academy on Multicultural Education in the Classroom. Open to both full-time and part-time faculty in both technical and curriculum departments, the summer academy brought together educators to discuss topics on cultural competence and religious tolerance, poverty, LGBTQ+ inclusion, veteran integration in the classroom and how to better accommodate the needs of students with disabilities.
